Danny: The Virtues Within Description

President Abraham Lincoln told us at Gettysburg that "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they

The forging of a Warrior, a Commando, begins at birth with the parents who feed their child “Tough Love,” at every meal. These sleek Black Stallions stand atop high knoll’s watching over all of us, the herd below, and run to the sound of gun fire to protect the herd. They are the “Tip of the Spear,” they are Spartans.

Very little else in these young men’s lives has had the impact to attempt the toughest military training in the world, Navy SEAL Training, than the positive impact of the parents who raised them.

There is no one better to tell the story of how these men became what they became except the parents and siblings.
Danny Dietz joined the Navy at 19 and was killed at age 25. No one else spent 19-years caring for and teaching this young man courage, virtue and responsibility except the Dietz family.

I’m enormously proud and honored to call the Dietz family “friends.”

I think the book is very well written and gives the reader some significant insights as to the virtues it takes to give one's life for a cause greater than one's self as Danny so bravely did. To the "friends" who are such deep critics of this book, a true friend wouldn't cause this family further anguish no matter what disagreements on principle you may have with them. You have your ways of honoring your teammate and this is the family's way of honoring their son and brother. If you can't respect that then remain silent. We all grieve differently. I question whether the critics even read the book. It's a very touching account of this man and the depth of character he possessed from a very young boy. The proceeds are benefitting the scholarship set up in Danny's name. The family has no intention of "profiting" from the death of their loved one and it is contemptible that it has even been suggested. I read the book on a cross country flight in a matter of a few hours. I didn't think it was possible to have a deeper respect for this young man than I already did, but I do after reading this book. Much like I have the utmost respect for his parents, siblings and widow who are forced to grieve according to the standards that others apparently deem acceptable or unacceptable. I have nothing but positive reviews for this man, his story and the loved ones he left behind.
