First, let me say that the Lean For Life Diet is fabulous!! Great results! Here, I am talking ONLY about the book. I was so excited that this new version was coming out and preordered it, based on how happy I have been with the previous versions! I am SO disappointed!! I am familiar with the previous versions of this book, in fact I have them all, both in paperback, and where available, in kindle format. I read this new version straight through, and I hate it!!! Compared to the earlier versions, it is very choppy and hard to read. I liked having all the items that were shoved into the appendix in this version within the daily readings in the old versions. They felt more like a daily workbook; a handy guide as you work through your weight loss journey. This new version felt like I was reading a poorly written novel. I found all the gray boxes with Dr. Allouche's medical theory to be tedious and an interruption to what I am interested in....the actual process/steps to losing weight. I would've much preferred that Dr. Allouche's information was what was to be found in the appendix. I soon found that I was not interested in what he had to say, and like commercials on the TV, I began to skip them all. I also found very little new information other then Dr. Allouche's additions. I would not recommend this version of the book. Rather, I would recommend the earlier versions in a heartbeat. I believe they are much better written and easier to read/follow. The older versions are much more user friendly! Finally, I found it interesting that the equilibrium phase was covered in just a few pages...glossed over. In the previous version, this phase required a whole book. I have ALL versions, and I will go back to following the earlier versions....I'm sorry I purchased this one! Buy the older versions!!!!

I've used the previous books in this series for weight loss and have been very impressed by the rational approach that Lean For Life takes towards losing weight.

It starts with a three-day prep and then follows with a four week weight loss program. The dieter gets a good look at the inner workings of their mind as they progress through the process. The diet also provides a lot of information on 'good' foods and 'bad' foods.

A lot of the diet is based on a cognitive behavioral approach combined with a reasonable diet. Mind and body together are used to conquer cravings and overeating.

I highly recommend this approach to losing weight. It has worked for me before and I know it can work again if I set my mind to it.
